Attorneys

PRIMARY PRACTICE AREAS: Joe Yang practices in the areas of multi-state real estate acquisitions including representation of a national fitness center, developers, and lenders.  He participates in purchasing, sales, leasing, development, and financing transactions including entity formation.  Mr. Yang also assists U.S. corporations with direct investment needs in China, including Representative Office, Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprise (WOFE), Joint Venture, and Hong Kong Company formation.

 BACKGROUND: Mr. Yang began his legal career with the Ramsey County Public Defender's Office representing indigent criminal clients and also served as attorney for paternity clients and the Ramsey County Guardian Ad Litem's Office.  Mr. Yang then practiced for seven years as an eminent domain lawyer for Kennedy & Graven before leaving the firm to serve as a Professional Errors and Omissions Attorney for St. Paul Traveler's Insurance Company.  Mr. Yang also lived in the People's Republic of China for two years where he established a Minnesota company that exports agricultural chemicals from China to the U.S.  He also served as a corporate trainer for the Shanghai Office of Target Sourcing Services/The AMC Corporation.

 MEMBERSHIPS AND PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES: Mr. Yang is a member of the Minnesota and Hennepin Bar Associations and National Asian Pacific American Bar Association.  He has presented continuing legal education seminars on land use and eminent domain.

 PERSONAL:  Mr. Yang was an active member of the Minnesota Club in Shanghai and, with his two children, continues his studies of the Mandarin language.  He is an avid BWCA fisherman and camper and also enjoys cooking for his family and friends.
