Kennedy & Graven, Chartered is a law firm of more than 30 attorneys dedicated to representing public sector clients throughout Minnesota. Our attorneys are well known for their extensive experience serving as general counsel to municipalities and for providing thoughtful, practical guidance in municipal law, township law, school law, public finance, employment and labor law, and litigation. The firm represents a wide range of public entities, including cities, counties, townships, school districts, state agencies, development authorities, and other public organizations.
The firm is seeking an attorney to join its team. This position focuses on representing public sector employers and involves a broad range of employment-related legal matters unique to local governments and public entities. The work includes advising clients on employee discipline and discharge, collective bargaining, labor relations, wage and hour compliance, leaves and accommodations, workplace investigations, workplace policies, and state and federal employment laws, as well as representing clients in arbitrations, administrative proceedings, and potentially some limited litigation. This role offers substantial client contact and the opportunity to work closely with experienced attorneys who are deeply engaged in public sector practice.
The ideal candidate will be a licensed attorney in the State of Minnesota with at least three years of experience practicing law, preferably in employment or labor law. Prior experience in the public sector is preferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, legal research and writing skills, sound judgment, and an interest in advising and partnering with public sector clients on complex employment issues.
The annual salary range for this position is $112,000 to $135,000, commensurate with experience.
